Texti Newsletter #22

Today we get straight to the point.

The highlights of the week:

  1. The Humane AI Pin is here.
In a couple of words, this device wasn't beloved by the consumers. The battery dies within 2-4 hours, it's always hot, the interface is pretty hard to use, the lag is unreal. However the build quality appears to be fantastic. The price is really high.
  2. Udio the new music AI generator.
You thought last week's Stable Audio was cool? Duh. New Udio is even cooler! The results you get from it, are close to unbelievable. It has full text verses, and the music pretty genuine. I still managed to make it hallucinate 😅

The Humane AI Pin is here.

5 Months ago in November 2023, the world has seen a major announcements. An ex-Apple team said they will produce a product this world, have never seen before.

They announced a Pin-like form-factor, which clips to your clothes with a magnet, and is a fully autonomous AI-powered device. It has it's own internet connection, it's own camera, it's own audio controls and it's own battery, and most futuristic a palm projector to interact with it like a screen. Promising! 🥳
All of this at just 700$ + 20$ monthly subscription (not so promising 😢)

Well they promised - they delivered 🚀

This week first deliveries started handing in. People started receiving their much awaited devices. Youtubers are obviously the first ones. In my recommendations MKBHD was the first one. From what I've seen here's my opinion based on the influencer's opinion.

To put it lightly this is just an unusable device in it's current form, and mainly because of the following reasons:

  1. The time to response is slow 🐢 - Every question takes about 5-10 seconds to answer, given that you have a stable internet connection. That's ages to wait
  2. The battery dies super fast 🪫 - anything that stays under 6 hours for the modern day is literally unreliable. As reviewed by MKBHD this dies in 2-4 hours.
  3. Lack of integration with consumer's information ℹ️ - in other words the device is truly stand-alone and doesn't want to integrate with any apps and doesn't know anything about you. It lacks the purpose of an Assistant - it does not know anything about you.
  4. Less than ideal interface 📺 - the way to communicate with other people through the AI Pin is just ungodly unusable.
Adjusting details for your requests is literally impossible. How many times a day do you correct a phrase you write as a message? With an AI interfaces that's hard to address, because instead of clicking a button, you need to explain which part of the message needs to be corrected.
  5. Projector 📽️ - is good only in the shadows
  6. Lack of Privacy 🔐 - the feedback of the pin is done only via audio or Projector, neither of which are exactly private. Also projection is literally in one place, so you always need to keep your hand in a very specific position.
  7. Always on fire 🔥 - literally warm to touch all the time due to the wireless charging.
  8. Potentially a perfect product to be stolen by thieves 🤡 - simply take it and run.

Apparently the only good engineers are hardware engineers. Because the hardware feels great in hand and well made.

The AI Pin will only be usable when it will manage to have the AI on device, and process your requests within milliseconds, everything else, is just a fluke and a beta test, to show-off.

Well yet another product living wasting investor's money. 💰

Udio the new music AI generator

Another week another music generator.

I was expecting a lot of Videos for this year, but look who's first, the Audio scene is getting better by day.

This week's highlight it Udio. All I can say it's freaking incredible. It has bugs of course, but it's in beta and it is sooooooo goooood! I believe this is by far the best Audio Generation tool we've seen so far.

Of course I couldn't stand aside and generate myself an audio track. This newsletter premieres Dreams of Texti-App. Listen now on twitter or download the track right from this newsletter, add it to your Spotify playlist 🎧

I'll be honest, last week's Stable Audio was pretty cool, but it was lacking vocals. This week things look completely different. Like the quality of audio is nuts - and it even rhymes very neatly. I like it a lot.

Fun fact about this startup that's supported by will.i.am, yes – that one will.i.am the artist who apparently has embraced the power of AI and instead of fighting the revolution – joined it.

That's it folks, see you next week ❤️️️️️️️
