If you’re one of those lo-fi listeners, this jam is literally the same thing, just AI generated, and honestly for background music it’s pretty good.
Before we jump into it, a small caveat: it's only available in a specific list of countries, as such this is a little bit of a bummer, and you have to overtake it using a VPN of some sorts. A full list of enabled countries can be found here.
So how does it work?
The UI seems simple enough.
You add a couple of genres as per your liking. This time I’m going to go with something more specific. I want to achieve some sort of retro style drum n bass reminding me of some old school arcade game.
For now we don’t touch the Density, Brightness and Chaos buttons, just simply click on the reload button at the bottom of the screen and then play.
This generates a pretty cool moody vibe that plays out nicely.
Now you can play around with the balance of the songs genres and wait a couple of seconds and see how this changes the mood of your song.
The Player UI is interesting as well, you can see the proportions of the genre mixed up in every single chunk of music generated. Basically this gives you the opportunity to adjust and play around with the dose of vibes to adjust your track list.
This is a cool concept, and I think it’s somewhat close to what a real artist would be doing when creating music. Basically slowly compose music out of chunks. The only difference being that you have way less control over the chunks here, but in exchange for an AI that knows how to assemble the components for you.
Can you be a real artist with this?
I think yes.
Here’s Why: We always copy the best. When you have something that automates the process of copying from the best, why should you hold yourself down? If it feels wrong or unfair, don’t worry everybody has this ability now, so in fact there’s no advantage that you have against other people, the rest is just creativity.
